Today was the first day of my LINK experience!
I arrived slightly later than I will on most days due to my orientation with my mentor starting at 10:00. My mentor at 4CORE is Teresa Shishim, the Project Director. Teresa and I for went over all of the necessary paperwork and documents I have to become familiar with in order to get the most out of my internship for the first few hours of the day. We also walked around the office and introduced me to the other employees at 4CORE, including Gregg Dubit, the Executive Director. (Who is also the uncle of one of my classmates at AHS).
For lunch I was able to eat off campus with 2 other students doing internships downtown, which was a first since Animas High School has a closed campus. After lunch Teresa got me situated at my temporary desk, and familiar with the networks at 4CORE. I then became a member of several different websites that 4CORE is part of, as well as got used to how those work.
A lot of what my small projects at 4CORE will consist of include having to digest and compile information to be more aesthetically pleasing and easy to read-over. I am actually almost done with re-doing one of 4CORE's current documents.
After sitting in on a meeting with Gregg, Teresa and other employees at 4CORE about current proposals, I packed up and went home for the day. For the remainder of the week I will be at 4CORE from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
